雨のち曇り。朝家事は拭き掃除。ほかに昼飯の温め。そんなところに彼奴の中学のときの友だちから電話が入ってくれてお解き放ちになる。あとで話を聞くと二人してファンだと云う向井慧のラジオ番組の情報交換だとか。ちなみにその友だちは舟木一夫で、彼奴は三田明だったそうだ。まっ、大きくは的を外していない。

そんなわけで書き取りが進んだ。
昼飯を喰って、一息入れて、散歩。エレベーターで上の階の不死鳥婆さんと一緒になる。６ヶ月も入院していたそうだ。今日は手押し車を押しながらではあるが独歩である。明日の午後は雨との予報なので「ときわ食堂」を目指した。途中、大廻りをしてワカちゃんを訪ねたが不在。二丁目の裏通りを伝って「ときわ食堂」に着く。1階の階段下に女将さんがいて、「お客さん、いないのよ」と言う。上がると大将がテレビを見ながらうたた寝。起きてもらって山かけをお願いした。今日はお新香がサービス。大将と女将さんでストーブを出して冬支度。
店を出て、新道を歩き、薬局のところで曲がり蓮光寺通りに入り、お稲荷さんに詣でた。二十六円献納し、ポックリを祈願致す。コンちゃんを呼んだら雨宿りしていたどぶ板の下から出てきた。コンちゃんの腹具合に合わせての訪問だから、腹は空いていてスナック会場へ直行し、マグロ風味を完食。そこから亀中裏門を経てクロちゃんを訪ね、モフモフ、カキカキのあとカツオ風味を完食。参加している顔本のBrighton Cat Peopleでは今日をHappy Black Cat dayにしているので、クロちゃんの写真を投稿した。１８時現在で８人ほどの方からいいねが来ている。
で、帰宅して鮭のムニエルを手伝う。会社から給与振込通知が届き、お小遣いの請求を致す。

In November I probably have to give a short formal speech in French. The village where my father and uncle were arrested before he was handed over to the Nazis, is going to ???(1)??? the local park ???(2)??? engrave his name on the war memorial. I go over to the ceremony and I’m guessing that I have to say a few words. My French Is good enough for chatting and even for writing emails. But when it comes to formal speech, they must be exactly right, I’m not so good. Just think about the opening, where I shall address the mayor, distinguished guests and from memory ???(3)???. One way could do this is to use online translation, so I type in “Ladies, Gentlemen and distinguished guests,” as the opening, and the outcomes (French), then I tried speaking into my phone’s translation app and it comes back the similar trust, but with ???(4)??? the other way around (French) says computerized voice. But which is correct? and can I trust my phone or computer to get it right.
Well, today on Word of Mouth, we’re talking about language technologies. Computers that can translate between languages, computers listen to us and computers talk back. How do such technologies actually work? How far they will come? And how good can they get at processed language?
